The Government would not interfere in the administration of the Indian Institutes of Technology, Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal has assured protesting IIT teachers. Sibal clarified his view about two topics at IITs: recruitments and promotions. Teachers at 14 IITs held a hunger strike on Thursday to press for their demands, including better salaries and removal of conditions on recruitment and promotions. Sibal told Karan Thapar on Devil's Advocate "government will never stand in the way of the IIT system".
An enquiry has been ordered against the teacher.
