
Every 15th carrier of the Hepatitis C virus is an Indian, according to a recent report. At present, nearly 12.5 million Indians suffer from the virus, and more than 1 lac people die of it every year. Its estimated that Hepatitis C is also responsible for as many as 1 in 4 cases of liver cancer and 20 percent of chronic liver diseases.
A WHO report says working in the graveyard shift increases the risk of cancer.
