J-K: First batch of pilgrims leave for Amarnath cave

The first batch of pilgrims left the Baltal base camp on Tuesday for the holy Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. Heavy snowfall on the traditional route of pahalgam has necessitated that organisers change route. The new operational route is via Baltal, but traffic is more of a trickle due to bad weather conditions.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS: Weather permitting, 10,000 pilgrims will flock to the cave from Saturday onwards.
