Goa politicians hold rape victims guilty

Shantaram Naik, Congress Rajya Sabha MP, on Tuesday shocked the House when he said a rape victim who was friends with strangers should be treated "differently". Naik said the electronic media had wrongly played up the alleged rape of 25-year-old Russian woman in Goa on December 1. Naik is not the first Goa politician to make such statements: the Chief Minister and a minister in the state have made similar statements.
