Rajiv Gandhi's assassin, Nalini Sriharan, has started what she calls a fast unto death inside the Vellore jail. She's demanding the reconstitution of an advisory board that recommends the early release of life convicts. The Madras High Court had asked the Government to reconstitute the board after Nalini filed a petition in 2008, but since then matter has had several legal tangles.
Nalini is in Vellore Jail for more than 17 years now.
