Phelps makes 200 metres medley final, out of butterfly

Michael Phelps reached the men's final in the 200 metres medley at a World Cup short course event on Wednesday but failed to progress in the 100 metres butterfly. The American, who unlike most other swimmers has opted not to compete in the high-tech bodysuit which will be banned from January 1, clocked one minute 56.09 seconds to produce the second-best time in the morning heats, 0.1 seconds behind Swede Simon Sjodin.
